Mechanism Of Action :

Tirzepatide is a dual agonist of the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptors. This means it mimics the actions of these two gut hormones. When injected, tirzepatide stimulates the pancreas to release insulin in response to food intake and reduces the amount of glucose produced by the liver. This dual action helps to lower blood glucose levels and improve glycemic control in people with type 2 diabetes.

Indications :

type 2 diabetes

Tirzepatide is indicated for use in adults with type 2 diabetes to improve glycemic control as an adjunct to diet and exercise.

Chronic weight management

Additionally, it is used for chronic weight management in adults who are obese or overweight with at least one weight-related comorbid condition, such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, or cardiovascular disease. It is administered as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection.
